Chopping down Anne Frank's tree

[IMG Anne Frank's tree] The picture above is the only view Anne Frank had of the outside world when she was in hiding, looking out on a magnificent chestnut tree in the backgarden of the building she and her family hid from the nazis. The tree is mentioned in her diary as well and obviously loved it. You would think that such a sensitive, important part of history, a reminder of a very dark part of Dutch history would be cherised, protected and kept around for as long as possible. You would be
